CORONA: Hit & Run Driver Vs Semi Crash with Fire

Early Thursday morning March 28, 2019 Officers with the Riverside Community College Police Department came across a vehicle vs semi traffic collision on the 91 Freeway. The California Highway Patrol along with the City of Corona Fire Department and AMR responded to the fiery crash. The crash occurred around 12:41am on the eastbound 91 Freeway just west of McKinley Street. The crash caused a semi truck to overturn, crash through the center divider and catch fire. According to the driver of the semi truck, he was traveling eastbound on the 91 Freeway when the driver of a Nissan SUV collided with the side of his truck, causing him to lose control, overturn and crash through the center divider. The driver of the Nissan SUV fled the scene on foot before law enforcement and emergency crews could arrive. Luckily, the driver of the semi truck was able to escape without injury. A SIG ALERT was issued for the HOV, # 1 and 2 lanes for the westbound 91 Freeway as well as the HOV, 1,2,3 and 4 lanes of the eastbound 91 Freeway for an unknown duration. No injuries were reported.
