On Saturday afternoon September 15, 2018 the San Bernardino Police Department along with the San Bernardino County Fire Department and AMR responded to reports of a Omnitrans bus vs an SUV traffic collision. The crash was reported around 2:32pm in the westbound lanes of Highland Avenue, just west of Western Avenue, in front of the California Highway Patrol Station. First arriving emergency crews located a head-on traffic collision involving an SUV and an Omnitrans bus. It’s unclear how many riders where on the bus at the time or if any injuries occurred due to the crash. It appears the bus, Route 4 to Highland, was traveling westbound on Highland Avenue when, for unknown reasons, the driver of the SUV crossed over the double yellow line and collided head-on into the bus. One person at the scene stated the driver of the bus was sent to a local clinic for treatment but didn’t know the extent of injuries. Two young males inside the SUV were taken into custody and a third was released. We have reached out to the San Bernardino Police Department for further details.
