Late Saturday night September 15, 2018 the California Highway Patrol along with Cal Fire / Riverside County Fire and AMR responded to reports of a man who fell from the Santa Ana River bridge on the 15 Freeway. According to Sgt. Bryan Arendt with the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling northbound on the 15 freeway in heavy traffic, when the right front passenger exited the vehicle to use restroom, stepped over the concrete k-rail, not realizing it was a 40 foot drop, and sustained fatal injuries. According to the California Highway Patrol, the heavy traffic in the area was a result of a full freeway closure for road construction at the time of the fatal accident.
