Early Thursday morning August 09, 2018 marked day 4 of the Holy Fire. Overnight fire activity remained fairly active in the El Cariso area along with the McVickers Park area. As of late Wednesday night the fire was 6,200 acres and only 5% contained. The fire, which started Monday, was intentionally set by an arsonist and has forced evacuations. The fire was reported about 1:15pm Monday near Holy Jim Canyon and Trabuco Creek roads. Mandatory evacuation orders were issued for McVicker Canyon, Rice Canyon, Horsethief Canyon, Glen Eden, El Cariso Village, Sycamore Creek and Rancho Capistrano, along with the Ortega (74) Highway corridor from the Lookout restaurant to the Nichols Institute.
