At approximately 10:09 PM a two vehicle crash occurred that sent one of the vehicles into a fire hydrant on Laurel Canyon Blvd near the intersection of Dona Pegita Dr. The drivers involved stated that one vehicle with a single male driver merged to the right into another lane and sideswiped a vehicle with 2 female occupants. The car with the 2 females inside ended up veering off the road and colliding with a fire hydrant. The hydrant was sheared off causing a geyser that began to touch power lines. Authorities on scene were initially concerned with power lines causing a risk of electric shock, but they were soon able to shut off the water and stop the geyser. Traffic became backed up for a short while on Laurel Canyon Blvd while this incident was being handled. No injuries were reported.
