BELL GARDENS, CALIFORNIA – CHP was in pursuit of a DUI driver around 2 am. CHP lost sight of the driver for a short time in the neighborhood of Bell near Gage Ave and Wilcox Ave. The CHP searched the area and found that the driver lost control of her vehicle and crashed into the living room of a home located in the 4500 block of Brompton Ave. The CHP broke out the back window of the car to extricate the female driver as the vehicle started to catch fire inside the home. The driver told CHP she was not driving however after a quick field investigation the CHP concluded she in fact was the driver and the only occupant of the vehicle. She was arrested and booked for felony DUI. No occupants of the home were injured however the building will be red tagged and displaced its residents.
