A violent traffic collision early Saturday morning in Victorville has claimed at least one life. The accident occurred just after midnight in the 13700 block of Hesperia Road.The collision occurred when the driver of a dark sedan (believed to be a Scion) lost control of his vehicle, spun out and was struck by a Chev Suburban SUV heading in the opposite direction. The impact of the collision obliterated the rear of the sedan. The driver of the sedan was pronounced deceased on scene by SBCo/Victorville Fire Paramedics. A passenger in the sedan was airlifted by SBCo Fire H325 to a trauma center in critical condition. An officer on scene indicated that, due to the impact, rescue personnel were unable to determine if additional victims might have been in the back seat of the sedan. The driver of the Chev Suburban received minor injuries in the collision. High speed and the curvy road where factors in the accident. It is not known if alcohol or street racing were factors. The SBSO Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation out of the SBSO Victorville Station. Hesperia Road will be closed down in both directions between Green Tree Blvd and Ottawa Street until later Saturday morning.
