An Auto v Pedestrian accident Thursday night in Victorville sent one person to a trauma center by air. The accident occurred just after 6:00 PM in the 16900 block of D Street in Old Town Victorville. The area is known for a large transient population and the accident occurred near a Emergency Warming Shelter. The shelter had just been moved from the San Bernardino Fairgrounds to Old Town Victorville to be closer to the main homeless population in the area. D Street, a major commuter thoroughfare, was shut down so an air ambulance could land and evacuate the victim. Heavy rush hour traffic had to be diverted through nearby neighborhoods. The driver appeared to have stayed at the scene.
