VAN NUYS: Hydrant Crash

*Time* – 0125 *Location* – 13800 Victory Blvd *Handling Agencies* – LAFD, LAPD Valley Traffic,LA DWP
At approximately 0125, LAFD and LAPD responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a sheared hydrant. Arriving units found a vehicle that had struck a fire hydrant, shooting water about 70 feet into the air. Per LAFD radio traffic, the water was hitting power lines, causing the wires to arc. DWP was requested to the scene. Firefighters attempted to take some pressure off the sheared hydrant by opening up nearby fire hydrants. The driver of the vehicle was evaluated by paramedics. It is unknown if the driver was transported to the hospital. LAPD Valley Traffic is handling the investigation of the crash.
