Tight Spot Pins Driver And Bursts Pipe | MATTHEWS, NC 5.24.21

MATTHEWS, NORTH CAROLINA – On Monday May 24, 2021 at 10:26AM Charlotte FD, CMPD, & MEDIC responded to a single car into a pole with entrapment. Charlotte firefighters arrived and found a driver pinned inside a white Honda. The Honda crashed into a pole and electrical box/water pump inside the entrance to the community park. Due the the way the car was wedged between a charged electrical box firefighters used the Jaws Of Life and other hydraulic rescue tools to completely cut away the roof from the vehicle. A spokesman with Mecklenburg confirmed the extrication took 25 minutes. A Charlotte Fire Department official confirmed firefighters only extricated the sole driver. MEDIC transported the victim to Atrium CMC with serious injuries.
