Suspect With Knife Carjacks Mustang | FONTANA, CA 2.13.21

West Covina PD were tracking a vehicle that was carjacked at knifepoint in West Covina. The suspect had a 6 inch knife and pulled the victim out of the vehicle and took the vehicle. West Covina PD was able to track the vehicle via cell phone. The Ford Mustang got on to the east 60 freeway at Grand Ave in Diamond Bar. California Highway Patrol Baldwin Park Station was just clearing a car crash east 60 freeway at Garey Ave when they noticed the carjacking vehicle pass them on the 60 freeway. Baldwin Park CHP got behind the vehicle and recognized the license plate to be a match to the carjacking victim. CHP attempted to pull over the vehicle at Mountain Ave in the city of Chino. The suspect did not stop and a pursuit started at high speeds. Suspect took eastbound 60 freeway to the northbound 15 fwy. The suspect continued north on the 15 freeway to the east 210 fwy were he exited at Cherry Ave. The suspect continued on Cherry Avenue at high speeds. CHP was starting to lose sight of the vehicle. Fontana PD was able to locate the vehicle abandoned at a warehouse at 14600 Harbor Rd and Cherry Ave in Fontana. The suspect fled northbound through the commercial buildings and into a residential neighborhood at 7213 Oklahoma Rd and Taxes Ct. A Secondary unit from Baldwin Park CHP was cruising the area looking for the suspect and found him in a front yard of a residence at 7213 Oklahoma Rd. The suspect was taken into custody.
