RIVERSIDE: Possible Fatal Crash

On Thursday night June 21, 2018 the City of Riverside Police Department along with the City of Riverside Fire Department and AMR responded to reports of a single vehicle traffic collision into a fence. The crash was reported just after 9:00pm in the 4700 block of Howard Ave. just south of Cridge St. The first arriving engine company reported a single sedan into a tree with major damage. The driver needed to be extricated from the vehicle. According to Officer Railsback with the Riverside Police Department, the driver was traveling south on Howard Ave. at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at the posted stop sign at Cridge Street, hit the dip in the intersection of Howard and Cridge, lost control and crashed into a tree just north of Date Street. The driver was extricated and transported to an area hospital in grave condition. Howard Ave. Between Cridge Street and Date Street is expected to remain closed for several hours while Police conduct thier investigation.
