RIVERSIDE: Car To Car Shooting

Tuesday morning April 09, 2019 the City of Riverside Police Department along with the City of Riverside Fire Department and AMR responded to reports of a shooting. The shooting was reported shortly before 11:30am near Grand Avenue and Rubidoux Avenue in a normally quiet neighborhood. According to Officer Railsback with the Riverside Police Department, before 11:30am officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 4800 block of Rubidoux Avenue. Before they arrived, they learned the victim was transported to an area hospital by family members with gunshot wounds. Initial reports indicated the suspect pulled along side the victim and opened fire striking the victim several times. A witness says the victim was originally shot at on Grand Avenue and the suspect followed the victim and continued shooting as he turned onto Rubidoux Avenue. Another witness says the victim had a female and a child inside his SUV at the time of the shooting. Officer Railsback was able to confirm the victim did have a female and a child in the SUV at the time of the shooting, fortunately, they were not injured. The intersection of Grand and Rubidoux was expected to remain closed for several hours while police conducted their investigation. A motive for the shooting remains unclear. No suspect information was immediately available.
