RIVERSIDE: 25+ Vehicles Suffer Flat Tires On Freeway

Late Wednesday night, June 12, 2019, the California Highway Patrol responded to multiple reports of motorists hitting metal debris in traffic lanes on the 215 Freeway. The incident was reported around 10:07pm on the northbound 215 Freeway between Central Ave. and Martin Luther King Blvd. Initial reports indicated 14 vehicles suffered flat tires. In total over 25+ vehicles were stranded on the freeway with flat tires, some vehicles suffered more then one flat. All northbound lanes of the 215 Freeway were closed for roughly 30 minutes while crews worked to clear the debris out of the roadway. One motorist described the incident as “very violent” when he struck what he thought was a tow bar. In an effort to quickly reopen the freeway, Officers with the California Highway Patrol helped change tires for motorists. Even tow companies offered their assistance as they also helped change tires as a courtesy. No injuries were reported.
