QUEENS: Fatal Crash w/ DOT Vehicle

FLUSHING, Queens – Just before 1 AM, a late-model white Ford Fusion traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on the Long Island Expressway (LIE) struck a city-owned vehicle used by the NYC Department of Transportation, which flipped multiple times, coming to rest on its roof at the start of the Exit 29 ramp. The speeding Ford Fusion lost control and careened the entire length of the exit ramp, breaking apart until it came to rest in the middle of the Horace Harding Parkway at 219 Street in the Flushing neighborhood of Queens. The driver, who was traveling alone, succumbed en route the hospital to his injuries. NYPD is treating the incident as a crime, and CIS was on scene to conduct its investigation.
