Pursuing Looter Suspects w/Fake Guns Get Caught / Rowland Heights 5.31.20

ROWLAND HEIGHTS – Sometime after 10:15 pm Baldwin Park California Highway Patrol attempted to pull over a vehicle for high-speeds and paper plates that did not match the vehicle. They attempted the stop on the eastbound 60 freeway passing Crossroads Pkwy in the city of Industry. The vehicle did not stop and a pursuit started eastbound 60 freeway passing Seventh Ave at speeds over 100 mph passing vehicles and in and out of traffic. After exiting and re entering the freeway, the suspects exited at Grand Ave from the westbound 60 freeway and then went wrong way on to the eastbound Grand Ave exit and went westbound in eastbound lanes of the 60 freeway continuing on to the 60 to the southbound 57 going north in southbound lanes. The suspect turned around at the bottom of transition and started going the correct way. The pursuit ended when the three suspects exited the vehicle taking off on foot into some bushes near the freeway. CHP was able to take three suspects into custody with the help of the LASD Air Unit. CHP recovered two fake handguns and the suspects had stolen merchandise inside the vehicle leading them to believe they were looting. Unknown at the time were the suspects stole the merchandise from. California Highway Patrol will be handling the investigation.
