APPLE VALLEY, CALIFORNIA – A fatal traffic accident occurred in Apple Valley Sunday night. This is the SECOND fatal auto vs ped on the same stretch of road in the past two weeks. Tonight’s accident occurred around 6:45 PM in the westbound lanes of Hwy 18 (19800 block) between Racherias and Rimrock Road. SBSO Apple Valley and Apple Valley Fire responded to the scene. Paramedic pronounced the pedestrian deceased on scene. The dark stretch of highway has seen at least four fatal auto v ped accidents in the last few years. The most recent previous fatal accident occurred less than a half mile away on December 15, 2020. The SBSO Major Accident Team (MAIT) was responding to investigate the incident. Westbound traffic were being diverted off Hwy 18 at Raherias for the investigation.
