SOUNDVIEW, BRONX, NEW YORK – An NYPD officer was shot by a gunman. It happened around 10:31 pm in the vicinity of White Plains Road & Lafayette Ave, within the confines of the 43rd Precinct. Anti-crime officers were in a car and initiated stopping the suspect when an exchange of gunfire ensued. The officer fired once. The gunman fired four shots. The officer was hit with one round to the back below his body armor. The 31-year-old officer was rushed via police car to Jacobi hospital and is currently listed in stable condition. A revolver was recovered at the scene. The perp is a 24-year-old male with a history of several arrests and a criminal record in New Jersey.
