BRONX: Fatal Collision on Bronx River Parkway

WOODLAWN HEIGHTS, Bronx (DCPI) – On Saturday, January 19, 2019, at approximately 0235 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a single motor vehicle collision along the Bronx River Parkway, in the vicinity of East 233 Street, within the confines of the 47 Precinct. Upon arrival, officers observed a 30-year-old male vehicle operator with abrasions and a 24-year-old male front seat passenger with severe head trauma. EMS responded to the location and transported both aided males to Jacobi Hospital, where the passenger was pronounced deceased and the operator is in stable condition. Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined the vehicle, a 2019 white Range Rover, was traveling along the ramp to Exit 10 (East 233 Street) onto the southbound Bronx River Parkway, when the operator failed to maintain control of the vehicle, and struck a side wall at the location.
