MID CITY: Man Leads Police on a High Speed Chase

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — A man is in custody after leading police on a high speed chase through the mid city area this morning, according to police.

The pursuit began when officers tried to pull the driver over for suspicion of DUI around 2:00 AM, according to Sergeant Richardson of LAPD’s Southwest Division.

Richardson says the pursuit began when the driver failed to stop. Police sent officers to the registered owners address and found out the owner was not aware the truck was stolen.

At times the pursuit reached speeds of 60 miles an hour through surface streets. It ended when the driver tried to foot bail at Normandie Avenue and 29th Street.

The man is expected to face GTA and drunk driving charges, according to Richardson.
