On Monday night July 31, 2018 the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the California Highway Patrol along with Cal Fire Riverside County Fire and AMR responded to reports of a shooting outside Midway Jr. Market. According to Investigator Munoz with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, around 8:30pm Deputies responded to the 21700 block of Markham Street for an assault with a deadly weapon. When Deputies arrived they found a male victim who had been struck by gunfire and was pronounced deceased. Per Investigator Munoz, a male suspect, believed to be involved, has been detained. The suspect was taken into custody a few miles away in the 20200 block of Hunter Street. According to a witness, the shooting happened near the handicap parking on the east side of the market and the victim tried to drive away but stopped in the middle of Carroll Street after jumping a curb. Investigator Munoz asks that media follow @RSOPIOWest on Twitter for updates and a press release will be available Wednesday morning. No further information was available.
