HARLEM, Manhattan (LoudlabsNYC) – Police shot and wounded a suspect. This happened at 6 pm Tuesday, at 234 West 114th St, within the confines of the 28th Precinct. Police initially received a 911 call in regards to a male with a firearm on the 4th floor of an apartment building. When they responded, they spoke to witness who gave police a description of the suspect who was on the 4th floor. Police went to the 4th floor via elevator and saw the suspect matching the complainant’s description. Officers demanded the suspect take his hands out of his pocket.  He refused. He then stated, “I have a gun”, took out an unidentifiable object, pointed it at officers, as well as taking a shooting stance. Officers discharged their firearms a total of 3 times, one of which hit the suspect in the hip. EMS was requested on a rush, who transported the suspect in stable condition to St. Luke’s Hospital. Police have not yet released the name of the suspect, and there is an order of protection against him. Police stated during a press conference that he should not have been in that apartment building. Officers were also transported to the hospital for treatment of tinnitus. The incident was captured on police body cameras.
