Lyft driver killed by drunk PA-plated Ford Explorer sport this AM in Queens (Fresh Pond/Elliot)

On Sunday, June 13, 2021 at approximately 0353 hours, police responded to a call of a motor vehicle collision in the vicinity Fresh Pond Road and Eliot Avenue within the confines of the 104 Precinct. Upon arrival, officers observed a 47-year-old male unconscious and unresponsive inside of a 2016 Toyota Rav4 with trauma about the body. EMS responded to the location and transported the aided male to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that vehicle #1, a 2016 Toyota Rav4, operated by the 47-year-old male, was driving Southbound on Fresh Pond Road through the intersection of Eliot Avenue when it was struck by a 2014 Ford Explorer which was traveling Eastbound on Eliot Avenue. The 22-year-old male operator of the 2014 Ford Explorer was taken into custody and removed to NYC Health + Hospital / Elmhurst for evaluation, charges are pending. The investigation remains ongoing.

The identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.
