RIVERSIDE: Vehicle Vs Hydrant Hit & Run

On Monday night, September 30, 2019, the City of Riverside Fire Department along with Riverside Public Utilities responded to reports of a vehicle vs hydrant in the Casa Blanca area of the city. The incident was reported around 10:00pm in the 7100 block of Evans Street, just east of Jacaranda Street. When firefighters arrived they located a hydrant which had been sheared, sending a geyser of water shooting roughly 50 feet into the air. The driver, which struck the hydrant, fled the scene. Employees with Riverside Public Utilities were able to shut the hydrant down within 45 minutes. While a river of water flowed down Evans Street, water did not cause any damage to homes in the area.
