RIVERSIDE: Vehicle Vs Hydrant

Late Thursday night October 18, 2018 the Riverside Police Department responded to reports of a vehicle vs fire hydrant in the Sycamore Highlands area of the city. The accident was reported around 11:30pm in the 5400 block of Kirkmichael Circle. Officers arrived and spoke with an area resident who says he struck the hydrant when he swerved to avoid a coyote. The sheared hydrant sent water shooting roughly 50 feet into the air and sent a river of water down several streets in the area. The hydrant was found on the sidewalk to the front of a home roughly 75 feet away. Riverside Public Utilities had the hydrant shut off in under 45 minutes. No injuries were reported.
