Late Sunday night October 28, 2018 the City of Riverside Police Department along with Riverside Public Utilities responded to multiple reports of a semi vs fire hydrant. The accident was reported around 10:30pm in the 6700 block of River Run in front of the Pepsi Bottling Group. When officers arrived they located a sheared hydrant shooting water well over 60 feet into the air and sending a river of water down River Run. The driver of the semi remained at the scene but declined to comment other then to say it was an accident. Crews with Riverside Public Utilities had the hydrant shut down within 45 minutes. No injuries were reported.
