RIVERSIDE: Home Depot Parking Lot Shooting

On Saturday Afternoon February 09, 2019 the Riverside Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of a Home Depot. The shooting was reported around 4:10pm at the Home Depot in the 3300 block of Madison Street. According to Officer Ryan Railsback with the Riverside Police Department, Home Depot Loss Prevention was making contact with a subject for shoplifting when a male approached and identified himself as retired law enforcement. At some point, while in the parking lot, the retired officer pulled his gun and fired at the suspect, grazing him in the neck. The suspect managed to self transported to a near by medical clinic. Officers responded to the clinic arrested the suspect for the misdemeanor theft. The male who identified himself as retired law enforcement, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. All persons involved have been detained and the store remained open for business during the incident. No further information was immediately available.
