Homeless Man Shot in Over Cigarette / Carson 5.29.20

CARSON – A mentally ill, homeless man, was on the center divider at the intersection of Carson and Figueroa. When he asked for a cigarette from one of the drivers waiting in the turning lane, one of the occupants exited the vehicle and shot at the homeless man approximately six times. The victim was transported to Harbor UCLA Medical Center just a couple blocks away in unknown condition. Carson Sheriffs are leading the investigation and checking the surveillance cameras of nearby businesses. The SOT is an interview from an employee of a nearby business operating as a tobacco smoke shop. The small blue passenger vehicle that can be seen in the footage was hit by a stray bullet. It is not known at this time if anyone in that vehicle was injured.
