Deputy Whitson Return From Hospital | HESPERIA, CA 5.12.21

HESPERIA, CALIFORNIA – Wednesday May 12th 2021, San Bernardino County Sheriff Deputy Dustin Whitson was welcomed home from the hospital at his patrol station, the Hesperia Police Department.
Deputy Whitson was shot in the line of duty on Tuesday March 23rd after making contact with suspect, Robert Elvis Sparks, in the parking lot of Aldi in Hesperia. Deputy Whitson was airlifted by a San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department rescue airship, flown to Loma Linda Medical Center where he fought to live after being in critical condition. The suspect Robert Sparks engaged in a gun battle with deputies on the ground and in the air. Sparks was ultimately shot, and taken into custody. Deputy Whitson was welcomed at the Hesperia Police Department by family, friends and work colleagues.
