Burger King Crashed & Gassed On 420 | CHARLOTTE, NC 4.20.21

SOUTHSIDE PARK, CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA – A 7:32pm a 911 call reported a car crash involving a commercial structure at 2901 South Blvd. Charlotte Fire Department arrived on scene and found an SUV had crashed into the rear of the Burger King at the address. The impact of the crash cut the gas meter at the back of the building causing a natural gas leak. The Burger King was immediately evacuated of customers and employees The call was immediately upgraded and brought a Charlotte Hazardous Materials Team and Heavy Rescue Truck to the scene. The building sustained moderate damage after the crash. Firefighters attempted to mitigate the leak while they waited for Piedmont Natural Gas to respond. Mecklenburg EMS with an ambulance and supervisor also responded due to reported injuries.
