Large LA Sheriffs Presence at Carjacking Scene / Lynwood CA 9.16.20

LYNWOOD CA – A 36-year-old man was arrested on a carjacking warrant in Lynwood following a search that commanded a large response because the suspect used a high-powered rifle, sheriff’s officials said Tuesday.

Deonte Murray, 36, is accused in the carjacking of a 51-year-old man who was shot in the leg with a high-powered rifle on Sept. 1 near the 500 block of Essey Avenue in Compton, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Bob Boese said in a late news briefing.

Deputies had already obtained an arrest warrant in Murray’s name in connection with the carjacking when they spotted him Tuesday driving a Toyota Solara in Compton, in the area of Alondra Boulevard and Bradfield Avenue, Boese said.

A pursuit ensued, after which Murray pulled over in the 3000 block of Carlin Avenue in Lynwood. (KTLA)
