LA CRESTA: Brush Fire

A brush fire that broke out Wednesday  afternoon continued to burn toward the City of Murrieta overnight into the early morning hours of Thursday, September 05, 2019. The fire was last estimated at just under 1,000 acres forcing evacuations as it burned dangerously close to homes.The fire, dubbed the Tenaja Fire, started Wednesday afternoon in thick, dry vegetation after lightning struck the area. According to the Murrieta Valley Unified School District, all schools will be closed Thursday. The last update from Fire officials, the fire was at 994 acres and 5% contained.
