Ice Causes 4 Car Melville Crash | LONG ISLAND, NY 2.8.21

SUFFOLK COUNTY, LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK – Good Samaritans including an off-duty firefighter stopped to help an injured driver after he overturned. It happened 11:05pm Monday, eastbound on the Long Island Expressway just east of Half Hollow Rd in Melville. When Melville Fire Department and Suffolk County Police arrived they found multiple good Samaritans stopped to assist the motorist. A Lakeland Volunteer Fighter named Eric Collazo was on his way home from work and witnessed the crash. He stopped to render aid, his vehicle (blue pickup truck) was then struck by another motorist due to extensive black ice on the expressway. The motorist in the overturned vehicle was transported to Nassau County University Medical Center with serious injuries.
