Hotel Lobby Shooting Death | FORT MILL, SC 4.28.21

FORT MILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – York County (SC) Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting Wednesday afternoon inside the Sleep Inn at the Park Hotel on April 28th. York Co Sheriff received a 911 reporting a shooting at the Sleep Inn at 3540 Lakemont Boulevard in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Deputies arrived on scene and found a person deceased in the lobby with a gunshot wound. Witnesses said a suspect described as a black male wearing a grey hoodie, blue jeans, and a mask covering his face fled the scene. The suspect fled towards the QT Gas Station towards Carowinds Blvd. Multiple agencies including the SC State Highway Patrol, Fort Mill Police Department & Tega Cay Police Department responded to assist. York Co Sheriff Public Information Officer Trent Faris said guests inside the hotel were asked to shelter in place inside their rooms. Faris also said Carolina Kids Development Center on Old Nation Rd was placed on lockdown for a short period of time. Forensics investigators continued to collect evidence at the scene into the evening. York County Sheriff Office is asking for the public’s help with any information that can lead to an arrest. The York County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim once next of kin are notifed.
