SOUTH LA, CALIFORNIA – According to a resident by the name of Giranamo Hernandez the fire started because of a few homeless people that were living in the alley. As soon as he saw the flames he evacuated his family
and grabbed the garden hose and started throwing water on his building
and on the fire. He also said he has been trying to get the city to remove
the people living in the alley behind his building, fearing something like this
might happen. The fire spread to a tree and from there it spread to
the inside of a home that was next to the homeless encampment.
Everyone in that building evacuated and also neighboring residents
evacuated fearing embers from the fire would spread to their building.
No one was injured in the fire. No further information available.
