LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK – At 2:00pm Friday the North Babylon Volunteer Fire Company and Suffolk County Police responded to several calls for an officer down, car fire, house fire, and motor vehicle accident at 167 Elkton Lane in North Babylon. Arriving units found a Suffolk County Police car struck head on by a vehicle with an unconscious officer inside, that other vehicle then struck a house and caught fire. Three subjects fled from the scene on foot and were arrested by Suffolk County Police. The police officer was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, the extent of injuries is unknown. The area is closed for investigation.
