Upon arrival, officers observed a 26-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive with severe body trauma, inside a black Honda Odyssey. EMS responded to the location and transported the aided male to NYC Health & Hospitals/Woodhull, where he was pronounced deceased. Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined a 30-year-old male was operating vehicle #1, a white BMW X7 SUV, traveling westbound on Grand Street, when his right rear tire blew out causing him to fail to properly navigate his vehicle and cross into the oncoming eastbound lane striking vehicle #2, a black Honda Odyssey. Vehicle #1 then proceeded to strike vehicle #3, a red Honda Element, with both vehicles coming to final rest. Vehicle #2 subsequently struck a tree. The driver of vehicle #1 and his 30-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries and were transported by EMS to NYC Health & Hospitals/Bellevue where they were treated and released. The driver of vehicle #3, a 34-year-old male refused medical attention. There are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
