CAMP PENDLETON – An aircraft that took off from John Wayne Airport on its way to San Diego experienced mechanical problems and was forced to make an emergency landing on I5 and Basilone Road. The experienced pilot made a safe landing and parked the aircraft on the road’s shoulder. Traffic is not blocked at this time. There is heavy traffic due to drivers slowing to check out the scene. There were no injuries and CHP expected to be on scene for about 4 hours.
