EAST HOLLYWOOD: One Injured After Transformer Explodes

One person was injured when a transformer exploded after water from a fire hydrant hit several power lines in East Hollywood Wednesday night. According to witness Jessica Balan, she was standing at the corner of Santa Monica and Normandie along with several others as water was gushing into power lines. That is when Balan says she saw a large flash and sparks. Balan says some sparks hit her leg and that is when she began running away to her house. A visible red marking can be seen on Balan’s leg. Samuel Luna was with some of his family members when he says he also saw the explosion followed by screams. Both Luna and Balan says the flashed caused some pain in their head. Both were not treated by paramedics. It’s unclear what caused the incident. It took more than an hour shut off the hydrant.
