MONROE, NORTH CAROLINA – Monroe Police Department & Bakers Volunteer Fire Department responded to a crash involving a tractor trailer. The crash happened on US-74 near the Sweet Union Flea Market. A pickup truck crashed into the rear of the tractor trailer. The force of the impact sheared the driver side of the pickup truck completely off. The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased. All Eastbound lanes of US-74 were shutdown while police conducted an accident investigation.
