Crews at Belmont High School are cleaning up a wet mess after a sprinkler flooded hallways and classrooms this evening. It all started around 4:00 PM when electrical crews were testing the alarm system, which some how triggered the sprinkler system to go off on the second floor of the high school located at 1575 West 2nd Street in the Westlake District. It appears that no students were at the second floor at the time. Video shows one of several classrooms and offices flooded. Crews can be seen dumpling buckets of water mixed with trash. Firefighters were called to assist but by the time they arrived, school custodians were able to handle the clean up themselves. It’s unclear how many items were damage or if students will be able to return to those classrooms.
