LAKEWOOD, CALIFORNIA – A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department motor deputy who was killed in a crash in the Lakewood area Thursday morning has been identified as a 41-year-old husband, father and Marine veteran.
The fatal collision occurred shortly before 9 a.m. as Deputy Thomas Albanese was chasing a gray Dodge Charger before crashing with a Mercedes Benz. The driver that crashed with the deputy stayed at the scene and was checked out by paramedics.
A local man working in the area grabbed a blanket to cover the deputy when he noticed people taking pictures and video with their phones.
