On Friday afternoon October 19, 2018 a vehicle fire during rush hour traffic made for an even bigger headache as thick black smoke drifted across the Harbor Blvd. exit. The vehicle fire was reported just before 4:00pm on the northbound 405 Freeway at the Harbor Blvd. exit. The first arriving engine company located a white Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck well involved with fire. The thick black smoke could be seen for several miles. Firefighters with the Orange County Fire Authority made a quick and aggressive fire attack and were able to knock the fire down shortly after arriving. The occupants of the truck, from Baja California, were able to escape the flames without injury. The cause of the fire is unknown.
