On Sunday night June 17, 2018 around 9:50pm the California Highway Patrol along with the City of Corona Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a two vehicle traffic collision in the fast track of the westbound 91 Freeway. According to California Highway Patrol incident log #01387, witnesses reported a dark colored sedan driving recklessly prior to slamming into the rear of a white Chevy sedan. According to the California Highway Patrol, the male adult driver of the dark colored sedan struck the Chevy sedan then attempted to run north across the westbound lanes from the fast track when he was fatally struck by a Ford Mustang. The driver of the Mustang remained at the scene and was cooperating with Investigators. The driver of the white Chevy sedan continued to a near by Shell gas station where the driver waited for Officers. It’s unclear why the driver of the dark colored sedan attempted to flee from the crash. It’s also unclear if alcohol and or speed were factors in the crash. All westbound lanes of the 91 freeway were briefly closed. All lanes with the exception of the slow lane remained closed as of midnight.
