CORONA: 2 Alarm Apartment Fire

Early Saturday morning, January 11, 2020, the City of Corona Fire Department responded to multiple reports of an apartment fire. The fire was reported around 3:53am in the 900 block of S. Howard Street. The first arriving engine company reported heavy fire and smoke coming from an apartment unit, a second alarm was immediately dispatched. Firefighters made a quick and aggressive fire attack and were able to quickly contain and knock the fire down. At least one apartment unit was completely destroyed and a second unit appeared to have suffered damage. All occupant were able to escape of the blaze. An occupant of the unit where the fire originated, said the fire started under the couch and spread fast and furiously. He told neighbors he yelled “Fire, Fire” and tried to rescue his cat but the fire spread to fast. He wasn’t sure if his cat was able to escape. It wasn’t immediately known if anyone was injured in the blaze. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
