BEDSTUY, Brooklyn – NYPD Detectives driving an unmarked vehicle around 6:30 am spotted Kelvin Stichel, a known criminal wanted for domestic violence and armed robbery, walking out of a house. When Kelvin saw the Detectives, he started running. At Decatur street, he started shooting at Detectives, who returned multiple shots hitting Kelvin in the right forearm. Kelvin shot one Detective in the thigh. No other officers were shot. Kelvin then ran to his girlfriend’s house at 39 Kingston Ave where he was arrested. His .45-caliber handgun was found in the trash. His girlfriend is also wanted for robbery, who maced police and fled a few weeks ago. The detective was transported in stable condition to Kings County Hospital.
