HUNTS POINT, Bronx — Just after midnight, on a torrentially rainy early Friday morning, December 20, 2018, NYPD and EMS responded to a rear-end collision between a Mini Cooper and a tractor-trailer, involving an off-duty NYPD officer. The driver of the Mini had to be extricated from the vehicle, which was wedged beneath the driver’s side rear of the truck. The off-duty officer sustained unknown injuries but was transported to a local hospital by NYPD escort. The driver of the tractor-trailer did not suffer any injuries and, at the time of this reporting, was not cited for any motor vehicle violations | Video Journalist: Christopher Cyphers
