On Saturday night September 22, 2018 the California Highway Patrol along with the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to reports of a solo vehicle crash near Ruth O. Harris Middle School. The crash was reported around 11:34pm at Alder Avenue and Maywood Street. The first arriving engine company reported a solo vehicle into a utility pole and a fire hydrant. The vehicle sheared the hydrant and snapped the utility pole in two. It was later determined the utility pole belonged to Spectrum Cable Company.
