LUCERNE VALLEY CA – UPDATE: Patient Arrival at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Apple Valley. Patient is believed to be Suspect. Unconfirmed reports state suspect was shot by deputies.
PART ONE – A barricade situation in Lucerne Valley Friday shut down a busy east west rural highway in the high desert. The incident began around 10:30 AM at the Moss Mobile Manor & RV Park located at 38338 Old Woman Springs Road/Hwy 247. SBCo Fire radio traffic indicated that at least one person was ‘grazed’ by gun fire. Fire also reported that the command post was moved back because the suspect was firing his gun into the air and possibly at deputies. SWAT was called to the scene to engage the suspect. Two law enforcement helicopters were also on scene monitoring the incident. One individual was transported from the scene around 2:00 PM. It is unknown if this was the suspect or a victim. Hwy 247 is a major road to the Bureau of Land Management’s Johnson Valley Off-Road Park. Heave offroad traffic had to be diverted due to the shut down. A request for information has been made to the SBSO PIO. There has been no response as of 2:10 PM.
