A short but high speed pursuit resulted in one fatality late Saturday night in Apple Valley. The incident began around 9:00 PM when a SBSO Apple Valley patrol unit attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle in the 12800 block of Kiowa. According to a SBSO Sgt (off camera), the motorcycle attempted to elude the deputy speeding up to a extremely high rate of speed. About one mile later, the motorcycle rider was unable to negotiate a curve in the road at the intersection of Kiowa and Yucca Loma Road and crashed into a fence. An AMR paramedic unit cane upon the crash just after it occurred and attempted to render aid but the suspect was pronounced deceased on scene by Apple Valley Fire paramedics. The SBSO MAIT Team (Major Accident Investigation Team) will be handling the crash investigation.
